NAPOWRIMO Day One - When the Guardian does the hard work for you

It got to yesterday afternoon and I suddenly remembered today was the 1st April and how busy I had planned to be and it dawned on me what an idiot I am for thinking this would be a breeze.
Any how, I'm going to be flicking between the daily prompts on the Poetry School website and napowrimo.net. Today's is from napowrimo.net. The prompt was to write a poem inspired by the work of sixteenth US poet Laureate, Kay Ryan. It asked for 'short, tight lines, rhymes interwoven throughout, maybe an animal or two, and, if you can manage to stuff it in, a sharp little philosophical conclusion'.
Luckily, on the same day The Guardian published a great April Fools article about George Osborne taking up a job as a fashion designer. I don't think the poems will always write themselves.
